TrailKit helps you organize your outdoor gear into named Loadouts for any activity — hiking, mountain biking, trail running, climbing, moto, and camping. Drag items from your Inventory into the pack, water slots, and worn section to build a loadout, then save it. Export your packing lists as a printable HTML checklist or your full inventory as a CSV.
Getting Started
01
Build your Inventory. Click + Add Item in the left panel to create gear items. Set the type (Backpack, Bottle, Bladder, Worn, etc.), activity filter, weight, and capacity. Your Inventory persists between sessions via your browser.
02
Choose an activity. Use the activity tabs at the top of the center panel (🥾 🚵 🏃 🧗 🏍 ⛺) to switch context. Each activity maintains its own set of saved loadouts.
03
Drag items into your loadout. Drag a Backpack from the Inventory into the Backpack slot to load it. Then drag other items into the main compartment. Drag Bottle or Bladder items into the water slots. Drag Worn items into the Worn Items strip at the right.
04
Save your loadout. Click Save Loadout and give it a name. You can have multiple named loadouts per activity. Switch between them using the dropdown at the top of the pack area.
05
Edit items. Click Edit Item in the Inventory panel to enter Edit Mode, then click any item to open its editor. Change its name, icon (choose from 600+ emoji), type, weight, and special properties like backpack capacity and water pocket support.
06
Export. Click Export My TrailKit ▶ in the bottom bar. Download your full TrailKit as an XML file for backup and re-import, export a styled HTML packing checklist (with dark/light mode and print mode), or export a CSV with your full inventory and all loadouts.
Tips & Features
Sample Gear: Use the Sample Gear toggle in the top bar to explore a pre-built inventory and loadouts. Great for learning the interface before entering your own gear. Switching back restores your personal inventory.
Water slots: The water section (Bladder + two Bottle pockets) only accepts items of the correct type. If a backpack lacks a particular pocket, that slot dims and becomes inactive — toggle pocket support in the backpack's Edit screen.
Slot stacking: Items that take multiple stash slots show a stacked-card visual and a volume badge. The badge turns amber at ×4 and red at ×6+ to flag heavy slot usage.
Activity filter: The filter selector above the Inventory panel narrows visible items to a specific activity. Items tagged "All Activities" always appear regardless of the filter.
Import / Export: Your TrailKit XML file contains your full inventory and all saved loadouts. Share it with others or use it to move your data to another browser or device.
